兩種層次的考試

來談談考試這件事情。

在台大,某科我唯一A以下的科目,老師上課完全唸PPT,
考試內容完全是背誦、記憶性質、沒有分析,
你要引用一堆理論,重要的是寫出理論的名稱跟內容。

來到Cal,某科我花一堆時間卻還是沒考好的科目,
老師一樣提很多理論、文本又厚又重,
但考試時完全跟理論沒關,而真的是實戰的題目。

第一次考試時有三題申論題,題目大概是這樣
You are talking to a friend at cocktail, and a peasant farmer just harvested largest crop but when he got home, he would have to tell his wife that they would have less money this year. How could you have more crops but less money?

然後我因為被台灣教育訓練給塑型了,
寫了一堆理論,結果拿超低分。
教授說,我教理論是要讓你會分析,
你遇到問題時是要會分析,不是提出一堆看似有關卻無關的理論。

完全是兩種層次呀!
解決問題才是重點,這不就是學術研究的終極目的嗎?
但某些教授不為解決問題而只為了衝點數發論文,生出一堆沒幫助的東西,
又要學生重複沒意義的循環,真是可悲。
